I am installing a new staircase in an addition. What is the standard handrail height?

Thanks!

Check with your local building code authority. Most areas have a range from 32" to 36" in height.

IRC R311.5.6.1 says...measured from tread nosing 34-38"

The standard is 36" but can vary 31"-38" from state to state. If your local Building Code Enforcement is friendly you can call them and get what the code is for your state.
