I have a 17.5 hp tecumseh on a murry riding mower. ran fine yesterday, but today it cuts out at mowing speed but idles fine. Just filled with gas, thought it might be water so drained the gas and put new in, and changed the fuel filter, not the problem still the same. I am trying to find out what the 2 wires on the bowl of the carb are, thinking maybe a fuel valve? also when it cuts out sometimes it pops through the exhaust. any help would be great.

Sounds like it could be water, but if you didn't remove the carburetor bowl and drain/dry it, it's still there. I'd drop the bowl and clean it out...I think you'll find water and/or trash.
The electrical part is an anti-backfire solenoid designed to keep the engine from backfiring when the engine is shut off. It's not the cause of your problem.
