Last couple days have had problems with central Ac...Let me break it down..
Sat about 8pm....I'm working in the computer room and notice its a bit stuffy, so go check the thermostat...AS soon as I enter the hallway I KNOW something is wrong, the fan (which has been wobbly and loud for a few months...) the fan was screaching and just sounded like it was Dying! I quickly shut the system down and called my dad (yeah, I called my dad...I dont have a husband for these things...lol) He got in there and the fan was dusty dirty, and wasn't easy to spin, so he did clean it up, changed my filters and the fan works GREAT NOW...not loud anymore. However....no cold air was coming out  It was late so I just put out some fans and went to bed...Since we were working on the AC is was on/off until about midnight.
Sun about 6am.....First thing I do I wake up check the Ac...AHHHH a little tiny bit of cold air...blowing not good. Through out the day I keep turning it on checking, usually just a little cold air, enough that I got the house to stay about 80 all day. About 3 my brother called and said it was probably frozen and to LEAVE IT OFF overnight to thaw out. Turned it off.....
Mon about 6am....Turn on the ac...AHHH COLD AIR, seems like it was before!! YEAH!! Set the ac for 78 and it seems to be ok, but I'm paranoid and keep checking airflow. About noon I leave for 3 hours so turn it OFF so nothing happens while I'm gone.
Mon 4ish the house is cool, and everything seems ok.
Mon 9pm it seems to be getting a bit warm, check the air flow and the kids say I'm being paranoid that its fine.....Uh I dont think so.
11pm..I KNOW the air flow is just about gone shut it all down, drag out the fans again....
So anyways, this morning my brother stops by and checks the system. My ac unit you can NOT see the coils, unless you just about dismantle the whole thing....What we were thinking is maybe the ac coil never fully defrosted, and froze back up because of that.
Sorry so long....ALL that and my little question would be....Is that possible? Does the system need lets say more than an overnight to totally defrost and will starting it before it defrosts totally cause it to ice back up??? We're gonna see until tomorrow morning if it comes on and works a full day without freezing. I KNOW if I turn it on now, it will work but risk freezing...

Sounds like it is freezing up. If the blower was extremely dirty, there's a good chance the underside of your coil is also in need of cleaning before it can be determined if you are low on refrigerant. Don't just let someone "shoot gas into it" to make it stop freezing, no matter how hard it is to get to the coil.

what size tonnage is the unit and what size and type of return filter are you using? It may have been marginal before the coil got plugged up with dirt lets get the DAD and BRO in gear here and get this system operating correctly.

We had the exact same thing going on last week. They came out and checked, and we were 2 lbs low on freon. Have someone come out and check your freon. It will cost a service call, but it is much easier that taking apart the duct.
