Hello,
Last night my blower stopped after running for 30-45 min at the Fan: ON setting, circulating the internal air.
After reading several postings, I located the capacitor, took it to the corner store and got a new capacitor for the internal blower. Replaced and now I have air circulation. when Fan: Auto and thermostat set to Cool.
After a short while, I noticed that the air was not particularly cool. I went outside and noticed that the external fan unit was not turning.
Can someone help? Is there also a capacitor out there? What are the odds that both goes at the sametime?
Thanks for helping.
Alex

follow up:
The fan outside now turns and appears to ge giving off cool air. This after I turned the power to the furnace off, turned the breaker off and on and the the furnace on.
So far so good but now thinking why did my capacitor go bad? Was it the thermostat telling the furnace to fire up?
Should I replace the thermostat? JUST hate it that these things go bad when we most need them.
Any suggestions on thermostat brand/type?

Capacitors go bad because the old saying really rings true for these devices THEY DO NOT MAKE THEM LIKE THEY USED TO. (thank goodness) They used to have deadly chemicals inside them that are now outlawed the things would last almost forever but if one ever got puntured and released its deadly guts all the newborn babies for a 10 mile radius would be born with tails and have 4 legs/2 heads and stuff.
