I am going to paint the hardie I am currently installing on my house, I need to get the trim done before the roofers come this weekend. I have a reddish brick with white as was leaning towards Benjamin Moore HC-111 Nantucket Gray but I am up for all suggestions. My neighor has a blueish-gray color so I am trying to stay away from that. Do you think to do the trim in one color and the siding in another or stick with one color? Here is a pic of the brick and hardie:

I'm not seeing any gray tones in the brick, except for the light gray mortar. In view of that and the neighbor having a gray, I'd opt for a color that has a more golden undertone. Perhaps something along the lines of Princeton Gold or Richmond Gold. If stuck on gray, then look at Jamesboro Gold. It's gray but not really or maybe so and certainly a little more lively than Nantucket Gray.

Go with a different color trim. Of course, you can never go wrong with crispy white for contrast. And, the white would pull out the white in the brick.

BTW, if that is a gap between soffit and fascia, caulk with paintable exterior silicone caulk to seal.

I am not stuck on gray at all. No there is no gap but I still need to caulk. I am replacing all the trim/fascia before the roofers come this weekend then going to replace the siding later. The siding in the picture was installed before I moved in and isn't a good job at all. Its the only picture I have at this time since I am at work. We used 1x8 Hardietrim for the fascia with 1x4 Hardietrim up near the drip edge (not shown in the pic). Do you have a pic of the crispy white/richmond gold combo? Would navajo white for the trim look good with a gold color?

Paint colors tend to vary from paint chip as well as from what is seen on computer screen. Navajo white appears a little pink on my computer screen. Once you decide on paint color, purchase a sample of the two or three paint choices and paint on side of house or cardboard and observe to see which looks best. Keep in mind that you are dealing with yellow undertones in orange red and golden tones in brick as well as the white.

You can go to www.benjaminmoore.com (http://www.benjaminmoore.com) where there is an interactive website that lets you pick and choose colors for interiors and exteriors and experiment with them. Again, the real paint will tend to vary from what you see on the computer screen.
