I have a old carrier ac unit and today I noticed that it wasnt blowing cold air. So I went and looked and noticed the fan wasnt turning but there was a buzzing noise coming from the unit. i turned it off and in about a half hour turned it back to auto and the fan worked for about 2 minutes and then stopped again. I could use any help i can get. thanks.

sounds like the old carrier unit is ready for a new fan motor and capacitor. Replace them and maybe you will be good to go, if you did not fry the compressor. How long did it run without the fan? Does the compressor run when you start the unit?

the motor and fan were replaced at the beginning of the summer. it probably ran a pretty long time with the fan not turning. i tried it again today and samething happened. fan worked for a little while then turned off. where can i pick up a capacitor
