Around 3 years ago I purchased a Hitachi 57' HDTV(57s715 Ultravision) , and it's been working great, until when I went to turn it on Yesterday morning and nothing happened. I tried moving it around to different outlets and nothing no clicking or lights at all. Everything else works that is plugged into the outlet(cable box, receiver, etc ) so I know it's getting power. To make matters worse I had already told everyone to come over that night to watch UFC on PPV. Sounds like a fuse or power supply. I don't know much about TV repair, does anyone know what the problem may be and a ballpark est of how much this repair runs? On my budget I hope it's not too much. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi,fellow Texan. It is possible that it is just the fuse.Unplug the set.Take the back off.Follow the AC cord till it connects to the circuit board. The fuse should be in that area.Pull the fuse and check to see if it is blown.Be sure to replace with same type and amp.Plug set in.If fuse blows again, then there is something shorted in the set.Respond back and let me know what happened.

Thanks Craftsman,
I took the back off and checked the 4 fuses that I saw and they looked fine. I think I'll look for some more, maybe even just replace the fuses anyways. If that doesn't work I'll call the repair guy, either way I'll keep everyone posted in case anyone else has the same problem.

I looked up your tv service bullitens.A lot of them for dead set symptoms are caused by bad solder connections. If you dont find any ,the part # for the whole power supply board is JT24481.You can find it at partstore.com .You might take a look at the module and see if you feel comfortable changing it out.Could save you a few hundred.:)

Thanks again craftsman,
I called a local repair guy, he came out and took the board and thinks it's the power supply. He called me early today and asked if anyone had worked on it before, they have not but I bought it from the Conn's clearance center on stella link, so it may have been worked on before although it's only 3 yrs old. He's charging me $240 total, with 2 trips out to my house that's not that bad I guess. When all is resolved I will post the results, heck even the repair guy if it works and thought a good deal by those who know.

Thanks again craftsman for your help. I finally got the tv fixed, it was the power supply. The repair guy had to come out twice because the 1st time for whatever reason it didn't work. He charged me $240, he used to own a repair shop but now he just works out of his house. The name is GEMs TV repair I found it in the local greensheet, good if you want your tv fixed for a good price, but it may take awhile.

Well, a little late but after hurricane Ike my TV won't work again. Seems to be a different problem. When Ike hit I was watching the tv... yeah bad idea. After 16 days when I got my power back the set does not work. The blue power light does come on now as usual but makes a high pitch sound after I hit the power button and then nothing comes on. When working correctly it would blink then go to a solid blue light then I would hear a click and the set would come on. This time no click, no picture. Anyone have any ideas...Thanks

If you hear a high pitch squeal then the Horizontal output transistor is most likely blown.
