I have a gas fireplace which of course is vented to the outside. The vent is almost flat again the siding of the house. Every winter I get soot stains on the wood flatbroad siding above the vent. What is the best way to clean the soot off?

if its smooth siding..you can try a dry chemical sponge...you may have to do a search for it..there was a diy sponsored ad for one of them when i entered this thread at the very top
if its a rough textured siding..a good quality degreaser and elbow grease would work best
