Hi there!

I'm on a TIGHT budget but ready to decorate my daughter's bedroom. She's 4 and still in a toddler bed (still fits it fine!) but she's just 'ready'... KWIM?

I've saved up creatively (gift cards, my points, etc.), and I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can find a decent bed that will hopefully last through teenage years. Twin size... I would like either a captain's bed or something a little more feminine. Either/or...

My price range? Appropriate... Is that a range? LOL

I was thinking about waiting for Wal-Mart to get their bed-in-a-box dorm kits and just going that route.

Any tips?

Thank you!!

Check your local trader papers where folks post things for sale. Also check classifieds. Often, folks want to get rid of kids furniture when they move out of the house. Check local used furniture stores, Goodwill, etc. You can always refinish or paint a bed frame and purchase a new mattress and box spring set.

Another less expensive option is to purchase the mattress and box spring with metal rails. Then, you can fashion your own headboard from bookcase, shutters, picket fence, or other.

I would checkout Craigslist.org its an internet classifieds, maybe you know of it? Anyway it is a good resource for anyone on a budget. You can make a wanted post for what you are looking for with your price range.

A lot of stores also offer deferred billing. I know you still have to pay it off, but it does give you some time. Otherwise, craigslist would get my vote, along with a local newspaper, garage sale, etc.
