Hi, three months ago my husband painted our bedroom, hallway, and bathroom with a new VOC free latex paint product. First, we used primer on all surfaces, and put flat paint on the walls and semi-gloss on the door, windows and molding. It has been three months and the paint is not curing, it is tacky, stretchy, and still emitting an oder. We have used a dehumidifier for the past month along with many fans and it is still as soft and sticky as if I painted yesterday. Although we were refunded by the company for the paint they gave us no other suggestions on how to remedy this problem. Because I am pregnant and chemically sensitive I have not been able to use these rooms for three months. It's a nightmare. Please, is there anything I can do to fix this? Are there any products we can apply to help facilitate the curing process or alternatively can we paint over it with a regular paint such as Benjamin Moore?

Welcome to the forums!

What brand brand/line of paint did you use? Is the flat paint as well as the enamel still sticky/stretchy?

Fresh air circulation is the best way to remove odors.

You may be able to paint over it but we need to figure out if it will cause any adhesion issues with any paint you apply over it.
