Since we have "outdoor living" year around our patio table with wooden umbrella has spent several seasons outside. The umbrella fits into the tube of an enclosed table base. Consequently the umbrella pole and table base have "become one" - and the wooden pole won't budge. I have tried removing in our coldest weather (20s) and hotest/driest weather 105+ , less than 5% humidity, pipe wrenches, liquid wrench, - no luck. I have thought of trying burn it out, but the table is aluminum and I am afraid the metal will melt. I have thought of trying to drill a 2" hole using a long extension- but am concerned that will result in a bigger mess..
I love the table and am willing to sacrifice the umbrella - but I need ideas !

There is a spray that you can get at auto parts stores called P.B. Blaster. It will dissolve a styrofoam cup, I found that it helps loosen bolts on cars that are not supposed to be removed. Not positive, but it might help. It costs about $5 for a can.

PBblaster won't work. The wood will soak it up and swell.
Go to a hardware store and get a LONG drill bit. 1/4" to 3/8" will do.
Drill as much of the pole out as you can. Push the remainder out from the other end of the pipe if you can.

Had an umbrella seize in a concrete table, had to lay the table on its side and drive the shaft out. Tried pipe wrenches, cold weather and so on but just ended up using a big hammer and a piece of metal pipe.
