I need help fixing my boat. I have a 86 chev that a replaced the silanoid and the key switch because it keep reving. Now the wires keep getting hot. I have moved them all around. i can get the wires to stop geting hot but when i start it get keeps trying to start . even when it does start when i let go of the key after it starts it cuts off. what could make it stop runing when it starts

??? Keeps revving? Do you mean the starter keeps spinning? Wires get hot? Which wires? Changes wiring - how so? Need more info.

I had a "mystery" issue with my starter recently - the starter kept spinning after the motor started (solonoid would not disengage)... For some reason, which I can't explain, I had to put on 3 different (new) solonoids before the problem went away.
