I have a weber 1000 LX NG grill.
I moved and no longer have natural gas access.
I would like to convert the BBQ to LP gas.
I checked weber's web site, but couldn't find a converter kit.
Does anybody know where I can get a compatible kit?

This involves a change of internal gas orifices and some connectivity parts. These should be obtainable.Recheck the web site for those.

If you have trouble, then find a Weber Authorized Dealer.these dealerships have access to the entire Weber line of parts and can order for you what you need and have it there quickly.Weber has distribution centers around the country.

This does not include any big box store that carries Weber lower end grills. This would be an independant dealer that carries the all stainless versions of the Weber line.

You'll need someone knowledgeable to help determine the right orifices etc.Part of the authorized aggreement is the training of personel for these very situations.

Ok, I called weber, and they were very helpful, for a price.
It turns out that these kits are available only through weber.
I found out that I actually have a 3000 model with 3 burners and a side burner, so all require new orifices, and separate regulators, which jacket up the price to about $100.

Still, its less expensive than buying a new quality BBQ.
Just have to wait 7-10 days for shipping.

I suppose a local specialty outlet could jury rig something together at a cheaper cost, but I dont want to blow-up, so I'll just accept it.

Supposedly, propane is more efficient and hotter heating provided you have the optimal flow through the regulator.

For those that are interested in other odd approaches, check out what this other person actually did:

You should never consider rigging up anything on a gas grill for the exact reason you mentioned. If you don't do the job exactly right then you'll have a serious problem.I would never use anything but Weber parts on a Weber grill. You bought a nice grill that is far superior to a cheaper grill so why put cheap parts into it?

If you have an all stainless Weber you can preserve it for years and years with minimal effort or expense.

If not you can actually get the stainless parts to create your own.

Weber isn't the most expensive and fancy of the grills out there but they have grills like Charbroil,Thermos and Sunbeam beat by a mile.In the business we call those "disposible grills" because they don't last.
