My house was built in 1924. I have a well that has serious iron.
Some of the rust in the sinks, etc. is from way back. I have a water softener and use iron removing salt pellets but I think the old pipes have rust that is getting into my sinks, etc.
I was told to use muriatic acid. Bought from my pharmacist - it is crystals I have to dissolve in water.
I don't really know how to apply. With a small paint brush?
Then how do I clean that off? I need to do the walls in my tub too and what about breathing this stuff in?
I have to get this cleaned up so I can sell my house.
You should see the basement laundry tubs! The stains are awful.
Very scary.

Thanks for help. I need lots.

muaritic acid is very strong stuff..never seen it in the pellet form...i would use a rust remover from a local janitoral supply...

some are liquid form and some are a powdered form that you can apply as paste with a brush and allow to work 10-15 mins and rinse

if the rust is that old and that bad..you may only improve it....it could be were there is debris left in the pipes
