I may have made a mistake in pump selection, but here's what I have got. This pump is installed on a 20' cased shallow well. I cannot control it electronically as the sprinkler zone controller is about 200 feet away. I have attempted to use a pressure switch, but it rapidly short cycles during off cycle. I have attempted to find any leaks, which the pressure goes from about 40 psi to 0 in less than 5 seconds. Yes there has to be a leak somewhere, but the sprinkler system is 7 years old and on an acre of yard. I just cannot find the leak. Is it possible to put a pressure tank on this application? Or what is my options?

Yes. You can put a small bladder tank to turn the pump on and off. With out knowing the way you system is done. Its hard to say all that much. Just put the pressure switch with the tank.
