I am in the process of removing carpeting on my stairs and in the upstairs hallway. I want to replace the carpet in the hall with a wodd laminate but my research has found that laminate on stairs is not safe....very slick.
I would like to replace the treads with oak treads and then stain them. My question is how would I transition from the top tread to the laminate floor? I'm not sure if a threshold transition strip would look good.
Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Even if the suggestions are to go another route.
Thanks!

You butt your laminate floor up to a transition piece (pictured) then the treads below.
