I recognize the importance of having a metered softener head to avoid waste, however I can't see the same thing being true for a control head for my carbon filter.

I'm debating a fleck 7000 or an autotrol performa 263-740 (-740 means timed, -760 means metered according to the autotrol documentation)

I've been asking questions at this web site and they've been pretty helpful. http://www.watervalue.com/softener_parts.html#Valves

I'd like to confirm my understanding and if anyone has another website for comparison prices for these control heads that would be welcome. (Is that OK in these forums?)

Thanks!

You're correct, for residential use, a metered control is really overkill for a GAC filter. Daytimer control will suffice.

I prefer the Fleck 7000 platform. My company carries both styles, is factory certified on both and we have more problems with Autotrol than Fleck. You can buy the 7000 as a filter configuration withlout flow meter.
