Hello,

I'm in the process of a home design and have a few questions.

I want to put a big picture window on the wall where the tub will be and was wondering if there is code as to how close it can be to the tub. I was figuring on 6-8" above the tub.

I also have a staircase where one side is against a wall and the other is in the open floor space. I was thinking of putting a big picture window in that wall too but think that may be a code violation. If you can picture it, as you would be walking down the stairs you would have a window next to you.

STUB you'll need to check with the codes office in your area, but I can tell you they will need to be tempered glass w/o a doubt.

I've seen plenty near the tub as you describe, can't say I've seen one on the stairs. There are rules about at stair landings and near doors, but those too can vary by region. Gotta go make friends with the inspectors.
