I have a fiberglass bow and arrow set which fell out of a moving vehicle. The bow itself isn't too badly damaged... but it's got a few scrapes and scratches on it. How would I go about repainting them? The fiberglass bow is red in color, but a small bit of the white part is evident in many of the scrapes. I have no skills when it comes to this. Would I have to use primer? What type of primer would I have to use? And what kind of paint would I use? A flat outdoor paint maybe?

Additionally, one of the plastic tips on the limbs came off, and I need to glue it back on. Which glue or epoxy would be best to recombine a piece of plastic and fiberglass together?

Please answer all of my questions. An "I don't know" is fine.

Welcome to the forums!

I've painted fiberglass but never a bow. The scratches will either need to be sanded out or filled. Latex with emulsa bond added will adhere well to fiberglass but I'm not sure it would result in a satisfactory finish. Krylon [I think] makes spray can paint that is suitable for plastic - that might be a better choice.

I have no idea what glue you should use. Unless someone has a better idea, I'd look/read at all the adhesives available at whatever store I was at and hopefully make a good decision.

A boat supply or shop that repairs boats might be a good option. No bow hunting shops around?
