Hi, My husband uses grass clippings from mowing the lawn as mulch around the base of our vegetable plants. Last week, he mowed an area that must have had poison ivy and used those grass clippings on the vegetable garden (we believe there is poison ivy since he arm has the tell tale marks which he assume he got from reaching into the mower bag to get the clippings). How will the presense of poison ivy affects the vegetable? Can we consume the vegetables? Thanks.

Yes, you can consume the veggies, but do be careful handling any of the mulch. You might want to remove the mulch you suspect of being tainted with poison ivy. Dispose of it in the trash. DO NOT BURN IT. Take all the same precautions you would take for handling the plants. This site has some helpful hints.
