Hey all! Built a raised herb garden for my wife. Its about 18" tall and I saw a rabbit in there yesterday and he ate my entire sage plant! I like sage too, but he must really like it.

Anything I can do, other than fencing in the garden, to keep rabbits out?

Thanks in advance!!

There are repellents available to keep rabbits at bay. These need to be replaced as rain and dew break them down. Too, hungry rabbits may get used to the repellent. Motion sensor sprinklers are also effective for keeping critters out of the landscape.

IMO There are only two inexpensive and reliable methods of keeping critters outr of the garden. One is a .22 short and the other is a fence. We like seeing rabbits in the yard so I put up a fence around our herb garden. I use a small gauge chicken wire that I spray painted and it's almost invisible. Unfortunately, it's not so effective keeping cats out.

As 12P stated, repellents may or may not work. Some are very expensive. I'm not an advocate of motion sensor sprinklers. IMO they are an expensive, ineffective waste of money. If your yard is like mine, there are critters wandering through all the time, especially at night. I think the sprinklers would go off every 10 minutes. The rabbits in my neighborhood are very active in the rain so I don't think a sprinkler would bother them much anyway.
