I have a textured ceiling in my kitchen, and I want to hang a pot rack. How do I locate the studs without poking a lot of holes and making a big mess? I tried using a studfinder, but because of the heavy texture, it didn't work... Thanks

Welcome to the forums!
The stud finder should work although it isn't as easy as on a slick wall/ceiling. More than likely, your ceiling joists are on a 16" or 24" center. If there is living space above the kitchen, it should be 16" centers. It's simple if there is an attic above where you can physically see them. Basically if you can locate one joist, you can measure and find the others.

Thanks, but there is a crawl space attic above and everything is buried under about a foot of insulation, plus the trap door is at the other end of the house....

More than likely, the rafter spacing at the other end of the house is the same. Measure the spacing between a couple rafter centers where the attic access is and then once you locate one of the rafters above the ceiling, you should be able to measure and locate the one [s] you need to hang the pot rack.
