I can play Vcr tapes but I cannot get the menu to set up the clock or to program timed recordings. Any suggestions?
Should the unit be unplugged for a long period of time before I attempt this again? confused!

Likelihood that this will work = upside = > 50%
Cost of doing this ~ $0
Downside of doing this = none.
Conclusion = do it.

Otherwise, cost of service manual for VCR for non-tech person = $50.
Roomful of equipment to fix it = one kilobuck.

Just throw it in the trash and buy a new one. These things are cheap as dirt these days.
