Hi my wifes wants to desperatley put cfl's bulbs in my x10 controled front house lights. ( they dim now but that dosen't cut energy use)
if I go with this controller will it work ?
XPS3IW

the guy says they work with cfl's? yes/no

also
would this unit be robust enough to control the speed switch control in a furnace blower motor from medium to high speed
thanks

It's relay operated, it'll run almost any load, and the CFL's are not a problem. 20A should handle the motor, however without knowing exactly how the motor speeds are controlled, it may be problematic.

yes, the XPS3 will control cfl's just fine...
I recently replaced some of my WS467 switches with the XPS3's for just that very reason.
oh, and they are much cheaper on EBay!

can an xp3 act like an a/b switch
ie one line power in with 2 lines a/b selection out energized by the switch ?
the blower has 2 power lines and a common
The switch would hook to the 2 power lines to the motor so a selection of speeds could be made , ie once a season winter summer

here is a diagram of what I'd like to do with the blower control
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v493/twister55/furnace/x103waymotor.gif
feed in 120 volts to wither the hi speed or low speed coils in the blower motor
is there such an a/b switch in x10 ?

I know of no direct way to do that with the X-10. However, you could do it with a SPDT contactor which would be switched using the X-10 system. I drew a diagram, then realized that this forum has no way to attach graphics to posts, and I don't have it on a web location. :(

no problem!
the wiring is probably easier to do than figuring out how to put a graphic in here anyway --as you mention. sooo

with 2two x10 switches one to control the fan power setting as a failsafe . Setting sw1 to on when told to do so would disable fan power to switch 2 -- the other switch would then control flip the 2nd relay (both are 24 volt, 120 volt operational) to set the correct speed as the secondary function. SW1 would then re able power.
Since by default this setup is the same as it is now---- the only problem is if the failsafe does not function correctly during fan operation -- as all other times would not matter
