i have a 1998 Seadoo GTI that ran last summer. it hasn't been in use since. it won't start now. i changed the battery and the spark plugs but it still won't start. when i press the start/stop button, nothing happens. it's supposed to makes two quick beeps when the safety lanyard is engaged but that's not happening either. any thoughts on whether this or something else could be causing the problem?

Make sure the battery has full charge. Check all connections, grounds etc.

Sounds like the safety switch might not be "making" it's connection when the lanyard is attached - assuming the battery is charged. Not an untypical situation. Wiggle/jiggle the lanyard attachment while trying to start the engine and see if you get any interest from the starter. (I'm sure you've done that though). In that case, you need to find the electrical leads from the safety switch to see if you have continuity when the lanyard is attached.
