I'm in the process of having my home replumbed and what to repair rather than replace the existing textured ceilings that are common to all the ceilings in my home.
Problem: not sure of the method used to create this style of textured ceiling - it's like a cake frosting (see images below). Any help in identifying the method used would be greatly appreciated.

It looks like it's thinned down joint compound applied with a shaggy roller - slid across the drywall.
