I have this kenmore hot water tank. It is natural gas with a blower. My problem is that the blower run and will not shut off. The only way to stop is to un plug it. Thank you for any help

The blower is usually activated by a thermal switch somewhere in the stack. I would guess that it is bad.

Is the power venter attached to the water heater or is it an add-on style? I looked up Kenmore power miser 9 and all I saw was plain gas water heaters. They had different water heaters that were power vented.

So please check you model number for me.

If it is a stand alone power venter the problem could be totally different.

BTW - On a call for hot water, the power venter should come on first. Then after a pre-purge, the air proving switch, (not a heat sensing switch) must sense air movement, then it will open the main gas valve until such time as the water heater becomes satisfied. The gas valve will then close and the blower goes into a post-purge (45 sec) then the blower should shut off. If the blower is shutting off, either a control has gone bad or there is something wired wrong.

The heat sensing switches (temperature proving or flame roll out switches), that some water heaters have are usually positioned one at the top of the water heater and one at the bottom by the burner area. These are used as safety switches and if either of them senses high temps, the shut down the system electrically. And the system will not re-fire until manually reset or replaced.

This is general information on how a gas water heater with a power venter should under normal circumstances operate. This is not brand specific, so I do not know at this time, until I get more specific info it this is the same for the water heater in question.
Sometimes manufacturers make changes that I am not aware of.
