Is there a spring retractable RJ6 cable reel available? I’m looking for something that is similar to the ones used for power cords.

Thanks - Steve

Did you mean RG6 for TV? I've seen them for RVs, but a quick search didn't turn up anything.

You can make your own out of a couple of a-frames, a chunk of pipe and an empty spool. Check with a local commercial electrical contractor -- they throw out hundreds of empty spools every week.

Don't use standard solid-core RG6, though. It's not designed to be flexible. Use stranded.

Yes for a TV my wife uses outside on our patio.

If I understood you properly, you have actually seen such a device but could not find it on a web search?

Do you know if the ones used for power cords have a commutator and brushes? If the cord is one peice without a commutator, I may be able to replace the line cord with a stranded core RG6 cable.

Thanks - Steve

Yes, I've seen them for RVs but I couldn't find it on a search.

Some power cord retractors use a commutator, and that wouldn't work for TV cable. There are others, though, where the entire receptacle block turns as the cable is rolled up. You could replace the outlets with F connector plates. If you do that, don't kink the cable. It likes to have a nice, easy bend radius of two inches or so.

What about a hose reel?
