Hi There,

Was wondering if anyone out there knows the best method to attach this plaque to a boulder.

The plaque is very light and will break if it drops.

The plaque does have holes for screws but I think if I tried to drill holes into the boulder it might take me a month?? Not sure though.

Was also thinking about using construction adhesive too...

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Craig.

I'd probably drill some appropriately sized holes for either lead or plastic anchors and use stainless steel screws. Drilling the holes would be easiest with a hammer drill (NEW TOOL!!!), but a regular drill with a masonry bit would probably work just fine.

It would look even better if you could grind a spot on the boulder flat so that it would be inset. Then much less chance of it falling off or out also. A grinder with a masonry wheel would probably work just fine.

Whichever, don't overtighten the screws! That'll crack it like a dropped egg.

Do you really think I could drill holes with a regular hammer drill into a granite boulder?

Sure you can, esp with a carbide tipped bit and a bit of water for cooling. Yer not carving Mt Rushmore. Maybe the grinding flat part would be difficult with granite, but they install granite countertops, and the drilling and finishing are all done with handtools, from what I understand. Right tool for the job is all.

Heck, all those headstones are done by hand...sandblaster and time.

Anything nature produces, Man can destroy. (dunno where that came from...)
