I will be retiling the bath and have Durock up in the areas where the tile will go and drywall up in the other areas. What is the best way to tape the joints where the Durock and drywall meet?

I am thinking that the mesh tape and the thinset would be best as the tile is (planned) to extend over the joint.

The other option would be paper tape and mud.

Pros cons of each and reasoning is appreciated.

Generally the cement board stops short of where the tile meets the drywall, the gap is filled with thinset and is covered by the other piece of tile. If you use the tape, you might want to do so at the same time you set the tile to avoid any build up that might throw off your tile.

Thanks for the feedback, thinset in the gaps seems to be the majority.
