Does anyone know the secret to removing the covers on a Sharp CV-P10NC or CV-P10MC portable type room air conditioner. I need to vacuum accumulated dust on the evaporator coil but am unable to access the coil. Thanks in advance for any help.

I typically pry on the edges until they break then toss the whole thing into the garbage and buy a new one. However you may have good luck looking under the machine and removing the fasteners so that the shell can slide off.

Saturn, thanks for the reply. I've removed every visible fastener and have found no holes for fasteners under any of the labels. Totally frustrating. I may start prying on the edges but will wait 'til I hear from HQ Sharp USA. I sent a snail mail nastygram to them.

. I finally figured out on my own how to remove the cover to access the evaporator coil. At the bottom of the front cover there are two screws…remove them. Then very carefully pry the front cover from the side covers (there are three “snap” joints on each side of the cover). After separating the “snap” joints lift the bottom of the cover outward and upward from the unit to disengage the tabs at the top of the front cover. This allows access to the evaporator coil so that it can be vacuumed with a soft bristle brush attachment.
This information should be contained in the operation manual.
I also installed foam tape on the cover to reduce the amount of dust and lint flowing past the filters. This should have been done at the factory.
The unit now works as it should. It is an attractive, efficient and very quiet unit. It should not have ceased functioning properly after only three weeks of operation.
