Hello to all! I'm new to these forums & glad to be here. I have an '86 Skyline manufactured home with the above mfg'd central air system. From the Spec Plate on the condenser unit, it's a 592A-2-ton. Well, it's 2 years old & it finally crapped out. This guy in my park does this work & said he'd put in a new compressor/condenser unit & an A-coil & recharge the system...get it running right for $1500. Of course, this'll be an updated version of what the home had installed 22 years ago. I'd appreciate your feedback on my situation, as far as cost of parts & labor total, & whether there's a better quality brand out there to consider, & where the parts might be obtained in the Chicago area. Thanx in advance, jjd45

I think you are saying that the unit is 22 years old not 2 years old correct? If so it has had a long life and is past retirement age. If that is a complete new sytem for 1.5k that is cheap as dirt I would probably be a bit suspicious as to exactly what is being provided and what quality of install I would receive. You know the old saying If its to good to be true it probably is. Now it may be that he just wants to help you out and is providing equipment at cost or it may be USED equipment? If I were you I would find out what the deal is before I gave him the nod.
