Hello,
I can't find any part number anywhere. But it looks like this: http://www.elmwoodappliance.com/images/washers_dryers/000003a.jpg

It's an old Inglis Liberator. Closest year I could find was some sticker in the back saying the following patents were used and there were patent numbers with dates from from 1959 to 1978 so I am guessing this dryer is from the late 70's, early 80's(?). It goes through a full cycle normally BUT it won't start spinning by itself. If I manually get it going, it'll go about 100-120 rpm, no where close enough to drain water or have the clothes dry even a little bit. They stay real wet. If I don't touch it at all, it seems to be moving at about .5rpm at best. I can see it move or at least try to but nothing happens.
We did some sheets the other day and it got real unbalanced twice. I balanced it out and it completed the cycle but since then, no spin.
What I've done so far. Pop the top of the dryer off and popped the big white plastic part where the stabilizer(?) rest. Took that off and looked with my flashlight between the drums but couldn't see much. Took out the back panel at the bottom and went looking at what happens. Belt moves properly and it not loose at all, no slippage apparent. Behind the belt there is some sort of metal shaped rod (__---) and when I close the lid and open it, I hear a click and it goes from the top track to the bottom track without hesitation. I cannot smell anything out of the ordinary. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need more info, I will endeavour to provide it.

Thank you very much!

You should be researching a old 1987 or older whirlpool washer as they are the parts you will need. If the plunger is shifting the cams (there are 2..1 for spin and 1 for agit) then your problem is more than likely the spin pads. They act like a clutch. when the spin cam releases the actuator pin thatgoes through the tranny. It sets the clutch pack on the spin tube and the tub spins. this is very tough to see from any angle, since the pulley that the clutch pack sits on always is spinning. Experience is the best tool in this case. Also there will be a spanner wrench needed to remove the spin tube. they are cheap, but lots of labor to to change them:wall: .But as I said research whirlpool's older belt drive model and you will be further able to understand your model. Hope this helps.:)

I am going to try and decypher this this afternoon but in the meantime, from what I could see. When it goes to spin cycle, it gets up to a certain speed and then the spinning agitator(at leats the thing that is attached to the base of the "drum") will "slip" for half a turn. Kinda like spin, slip, spin, slip, spin, slip. It accelrates quickly for half a turn, each turn and then slows back down. If this helps diagnosing in any way great. But from your description, I may end up calling someone in to fix it. Not sure the wife wants a completely non-working machine and I am not sure I want to curse all day today ;)

I'll check for another reply if there is one but I think Monday, I might just call someone. Or is this job going to cost me more than the machine is worth? :(

Don;t know the machine but if like a old Whrilpool belt drive they have a steel tub that I find are rusted to almost the point of leaking. There is a medel repair kit to use on them but i9s not worth the cost of repair. Replaced it with a top loader Whrilpool or Kenmore, roper, All based on very reliable whrilpool.
