Hi the other day I went to bed and the Ac was working fine. Then when I woke up my G/f said it felt humid? Well the house felt cool so we didn't think the ac was messed up. well I went to run some errands and when I got home the house was warm, really warm. I took a look at the digital tstat and it was blank, nothing no #, nada. I told my girlfriend and she said it's probably the battery. Well I got home and took a look the battery was a 5.5 v flat battery that was soldered on. I pryed it off and tested it sure enough, it was only putting out .76 v. So I took my dc power supply and connected it where the terminals where and sure enough it turned on the tstat, we then adjusted the tstat and set it to auto cool and waited.... for nothing. I then set it to cool, again nothing .:wall: I then messed with this for hours to no avail, and went to bed last night in a hot house. Well this morning I checked out the outside fan/condenser. I pushed in the contact and the fan turned on then a few seconds later the condenser turned on as well. So now I don't know what else to test.
Should I buy a new tstat?
Should I check the furnace?
What else can I do?
I've done so much work I'd hate to call the repair man now.:o
Please help its getting hot in here!

At the stat's sub base. take your meter and read between R and G, should read 24 volts... If nothing, then check the fuse/breaker for the furnace/air handler.

Does the blower fan in the air handler come on when you set the fan switch to on instead of auto?

Yeah I got it this afternoon but I had to go to work so I couldn't write about my great accomplishment sooner. Yeah I looked around at other peoples problems and I thought to myself isn't there a fuse in my air handler. sure enough I eventually found it. Taping this on, and overriding the tsats faulty capacitor with my dc power supply gave me that sweet hum of the motor, then vwalla everything started working. Thanks so much for everyones advice. I really love this site it saved me and g/f from the heat, not to mention she thinks I'm a smart guy now! :D
