I have a Hampton Bay 12,0000 btu window unit that seems to cool fine except if you leave it on for an extended length of time ( usually happens when it is on most of the day and then we leave on low at night) the unit seems to be freezing up towards the bottom of the coils. I noticed the other day it was running and there was no air coming out of the vents on top. I removed the cover and the bottom 2" of the coil all the way along was all froze up with ice on it. I ended up thawing with a hair dryer and then it ran great the rest of the night. Any ideas why it would freeze up. Thanks

most likely the coils are dirty, get some coil cleaner and clean it. If that does not cure it then it probably has a low charge and it would be cheaper to toss it rather than fix it.
