Was not sure if this was best in plumbing or in appliances.

Ok so the wife got a new fridge and now would like the door ice maker and water to server a purpose. We live in a slab house and the fridge sits on an outside wall with no other water lines around it. About < 20 feet away from the fridge sits the utility closet with the water heater. The idea I have is to run the line straight up to the attic and run the water line through the joists in the house and under the insulation. We live in St. Louis so it does get cold. Then I would bring the line down either through an interior wall that sits right next to the ridge or directly from the ceiling behind the fridge and cover it up.

Any other options or suggestions are appreciated. Also any recommendations on the kind of pipe I should use or if the DIY tube will serve my need.

Thanks
Stephen

Do you have Kitchen cabinets running from sink to fridge? If you do you can run tube through back of cabinets.

I think I would run copper tubing through the floor joist and down the wall. 1/4" is generally the supply line to refrigerators and it might be easier to run. Otherwise use 1/2 pipe with a 1/4 fitting at the valve where you come out of the wall.
