I purchased a new home in Las Vegas Nevada 8/1/2007 with stucco exterier.I am noticing all kinds of hairline cracks. The homebuilder says that it is normal for stucco to crack when drying.I have no experiance with stucco. Is this normal for stucco to develope hairline cracks,if so are you suppose to caulk and seal?

It should be still under the builders 1 yr warranty!

Minor cracks can be caulked with a good siliconized acrylic latex caulking. The caulking will need painting. The builder should pay for all of this. I've gotten paid [by the builder] many a time for going back and painting repairs on a new house, including caulking and painting stucco cracks.

In the future when it comes time to repaint the stucco, you may want to use an elastromeric coating. It doesn't go as far as regular latex house paint but it does a good job of sealing masonary and hiding minor cracks. Because it's somewhat elastic, it will also prevent future [minor] cracks.
