I accidentally put a little too much Scotts Weed n Feed on my lawn this Saturday. I noticed burn spots on Sunday and emmediately watered the hell out of the lawn. I have tall fescue.
is there anything else I can do but water more and wait. Also, do you think it will come back in time?
Thanks for the help in advance.

You could throw some sawdust down on the affected areas, since it's an N-eater too.
Watering to heck will wash away a lot though. Sawdust would help too.

Watering is the best approach. Burning is the dessication of the grass.

I don't know how you apply your fertilizer.
I have gone to a Scotts drop spreader using a 13-13-13
by Miracle Grow-a lot less chance of burning your lawn........

If you are using a name brand spreader that is in good shape and is kept clean and you set it to the correct setting according to bag directions then what product you use has little impact on over fertilizing. At that point it's about keeping track of where you have been and not going over areas twice etc.
By the way...all that heavy watering needs to stop soon after the incident or the excess water will do as much harm as the extra fertilizer.

Yeh i used my neighbors spreader and it isn't in good shape. I usually use my hand rotary but decided to go with the walk behind. I burned it at the turn around point at each side. I should have known beter but this is my 1st ever application of weed n feed. usually i just put down turf builder. I will water for a couple days will it be gone by then?
