In my previous project I used setting type compound with fiberglass tape on my recessed and butt joints which showed no signs of any cracking after almost 2 years.
During my recent project, I used fiberglass tape for the same application again, but this time I chose to skip the setting type compound and just used all-purpose mud for every coat as many references said it would be fine. The walls are now primed and 95% of the work looks great however there are a few seams that cracked in the hallway where this is limited airflow(no return air or vents).
Two questions:
1) How do I approach repairing these few seams? Should I just sand them down and recoat on top, or should I cut them out and replace with paper tape to avoid recracking?
2) Since the rest of the areas look great and I really don't want to undo 2 months of work, what are the chances of the joints cracking over time? I'm using Sherwin Williams primer and paint to seal.

While SWP makes good paint, paint won't hide or prevent [for the most part] cracks.
Fiberglass or 'sticky' tape has a poor track record. If/when it is used it should be coated with a setting compound. Setting compounds dry harder and stick better than regular j/c.
Ideally you would replace the 'sticky' tape with paper but that's an awfull lot of work. At this point I'd scrape off a little j/c from the tape and apply a coat of durabond and then top coat with j/c. Don't forget to reprime thes areas.

Well lets just hope it doesn't crack over time then. If it does then I'll worry about it I guess. No need to make more work now. I'll fix the problem spots that showed up right away and forget the rest.
