Hi,
I'm looking to build a patio table with a ceramic tile top. I would like to use 4" sq tiles. The framework is not an issue.
I live in a climate where the winters can get as cold as -20 degrees.
I'm told that standard thinset and grout will not stand up.
Does anyone have information for setting tiles that will stand up to this weather?
Thanks in advance for your help
Paul

Frostproof tiles and exterior thinset are available. There is also frostproof grout. Tile has been used outdoors for centuries. If tile, thinset, and grout are not frostproof, moisture penetration and freeze/thaw will result in breaking up of tile and grout.
