I have a 4.5hp briggs on a push mower. I had a post on here about it barely running and blowing oil out the exhaust. I took it apart and there was a ton of carbon built up on the piston and head. Everything looks great but the oil ring on the piston broke. Should I fix this or just junk it? Im not sure what a set of rings will cost. I dont need the mower, I have 2 more that run.

Fix it and use it as a learning experience, set of rings probably less than $15, which is a cheap education. Have a good one. Geo

If a set of rings is $15 then the guy in town will probably want $400 for a set. If I can get a set of them I'll try to fix it. Its a nice looking mower so I hate to junk it.

And its a 6.5, not 4.5
