  I am purchasing a Friedrich quad zone heat pump/air conditioner system for my house. It is 90 years old and doesnt have the duct work so this works best for us. It is 4 9000 BTU units and one compressor outside. I have a general knowledge of installing air conditioning and I am not a novice when it comes to construction and such. I am looking for help on how to do this the easiest way? What things should i look out for in terms of problems? What additional tools should I have on hand? Please let me know as I am going to be purchasing the unit next week and am looking to install next weekend. I live in jersey if that helps with anything lol.

Best advise, don't do it yourself.
Get a dealer who sells this, and have them do this type of set up. When you have Multi zone, you are going to be over your head, and most company will not honor the warranty on DIY install of HVAC system.
There a guy who did this himself, and regrets "saving" the money, and where at the end it cost him a lot more if he was to get a dealer in on this.

:wall: Thanks for the reply but heres what i don't get. Why if i can get the unit for 5500 myself. Why then does a contractor tell me it would be 10 grand for him to do everything. Are they really going to charge 5 grand for labor??? the whole install only takes a few freaking hours. That is like a grand an hour!

keep looking for a contractor to install the unit for u, a professional installation is always recommended, but dont pay $5000 for that, it should be done for $1000 or $1500 at the most like you said it's only a few hours work. they are a/c contrators not doctors)
