First, ironic and sick that A/C's never break down on a brisk fall day in Florida.
Came home this A.M. - no air. Hotter INSIDE than outside. Lots of water in the drip pan.
Removed water, let everything air and dry out (which really took all of 2 minutes but I gave it 4 hours.)
Flipped all the switces, crossed t's dotted i's.... nothing.
No fan, either on ON or AUto
No Air
No heat
No tripped breakers
nothing
I'm DYING. What can i check, switch, move, hug, pay off in 10's and 20's. it is HONESTLY as I type this, 97 degrees in my ... yes... 4th story apartment in FLORIDA.
Murphy's law
HELP!

Sounds like you lost your low voltage power. Pull the air handler access panel and replace the small fuse, it will look like one of the old type automotive round with metal ends and glass center. Note: You did not state exactly what type of unit you have and some units use other means of circuit protection. Worth a try i would think

Granted, I know enough to be dangerous, and enough to not kill myself.
I took the plate off the wall (the one you'd take off to replace the filter. I saw basecially two halves of the unit. top half was still covered in a metal sheet bottom half, for the filter.
Ok so i took the metal plate off, and there is this 5" wide, 2 1/2" tall maybe black "plug" that i had to take out for the plate to come off. It is in my terms, a really big fuse.
Poked prodded, no fuse. Went to put plate back on, then put big fuse back in... yeah not so much.. so I just left the big plate off and put in the blcak fuse. OK WOO! When I did that, I heard a surge of power, a hum, the big fan moved and then click. Took the big fuse out, back in.. same results...
I'ts almost as if it's a separate circuit breaker and it's tripping.
Ok.. now what.

Hard to say for sure without being there but it sounds like the battery looking thing (Capacitor) is bad how many terminals does it have? Does it have any markings on it maybe something like 35-5 370 vac 30-7.5 etc 440 vac etc?? Do you have a way to take a picture and post it?
