Recently I noticed the bottom of my picture had a big black rectangle coming up. My son thought I had closed caption on. I turned the tv off then back on and it was fine....for awhile. Now the entire half of the picture is gone from bottom up. Is my tv dying or is there any hope left for it?

Your tv has a problem in the vertical circuit.It could be as minor as a cold solder joint or it could be a part going bad.Best to call several shops and tell them whats it's doing .After answering a few questions they should be able to give you a ball park estmate.If it's worth fixing is up to you.
