Working on 98 chev half ton v6. It will not start until it gets a shot of starting fluid. It doesn't matter hot or cold. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

sounds like a 4.3 l
not getting initial presure for start up fuel presure needs to be checked pump may need replacment try first turn ke to on posion for 3 seconds than off for 3 than on again do tis 3- 4 times than try and start this may build the pump presure to turn on the injectors if so than more than likely your fuel pump is not strong enough any more
