Hello
I have had a DSC Power 832 for 7 years and it has been fine until 6 days ago. I came home and the trouble light was on and it was beeping. I pulled out the instruction manual and prceeded to troubleshoot. I came out as low battery. I stopped the beeping but the light was still on. I was unable to purchase a new battery until yesterday and by then the system had lost complete power and is totally black and not functioning. I purchased the new battery and installed it but nothing happen. I called the store and they told me to wait until this morning for the battery to charge itself. This morning it is still completely dead. I am wondering if I am doing something wrong or could it be something else. I have tried unplugging and plugging again. The transformer was very warm a week ago but is very cold today.
Any advise? Trying to avoid an expensive service call.

The transformer failed. Replace it. The new battery may take a charge if you didn't deep discharge it too far.
Warning, it is not uncommon for a transformer failure to damage the power supply built into the motherboard.

also when you get your alarm up and running again you will have to set the time and date. also you will get a low battery signal, maybe, but this will go away after a few hours.

not sure about home depot. what you need is a 16v 40va transfomer. you may have to go to your local security store. if you have one.

You need a 16v 40VA transformer. They are sold anyplace that sells alarm hardware. The better stocked radio shacks will stock them. Other wise use that phrase for a websearch.
