I have recently moved in a home where the owners had applied cork and mirrors to a wall in the living room. I don't want toremove the mirrors or cork at this time but would like to paint over the cork to lighten it up, is that possible and would the color bleed through the paint?

You could try painting over the cork with a good quality aldyd paint. However, cork is very porous and it could take lots of layers of paint to come up with a smooth finish.

Talk to someone at your local paint store. If you don't like the appearance or texture of the cork, you may be apply to apply some crack filler to either give your wall a smoother appearance or to do some old world plaster treatment.
