Can't get help from GE because the WWSE5240GOWW washer is 16 months old and I didn't buy the extended warranty. Everything works except the spin cycle after the wash and after the rinse only rotates about 60rpm. There is a LED light on the Motor Inverter Board that flashes 9 times which indicates "Brake Resistor Open". Their fix is to replace the motor which GE sells for $238. Seems like overkill for a bad resistor. Is this resister really the cause of "no fast spin"? Any one have a clue???? If I have to have a service man fix it, the service call & labor will be more expensive than a new washer (which will not be a GE!). Thanks, Joe:wall:

Everything works fine except the agitation and spin cycle. They just don't get up to full power and there is a "clanking-clicking" noise... And the washer is uneven! Noticed the noise first, then things went downhill after a few days! Please help, I cannot afford a new washer!!!

you need to take the front panel off and count the # of flashes on the green led on the inverter board over the motor. there is a tech sheet inside the top console.

if it wont spin fast it does sound like it could need a motor. to put the belt back on zip tie the belt to the large pulley and rotate it around.

also these newer GE's have a mode selector at the bottom of the drive shaft. they get stuck in spin mode and the basket agitates instead of the agitator causing a water leak. the fix for this is replace the drive shaft.

Here is an exploded diagram for your washer, this may help. I would recommend replacing the resistor first, if that doesn't work of course replace the motor.
