I am new to this forum so bare with me... WE have an ADT alarm system in our house. We have had some of the doors replaced. In one of the doors was one of the alarm sensors. ... actually imbedded into the door itself. We now are getting a replacement sensor for the new door which will be attached to the outside of the door. ADT wants $150 to have someone come out to deactivate the old sensor. If I dont do this the sensor will continue to send a message to ADT that the door is either open or the battery is dead. I really dont want to pay $150 for something that most likey will only take a couple of minutes to deactivate. Any thoughts on this??

If this was just a hardwired door contact, it's an easy fix.

If all that happened was that you replaced the door, leaving the existing doorframe, all you need to replace is the _magnet_ that was in the door itself.

If you tore out the doorframe without making provisions for replacing the contact, then switching to a surface mount contact is your only real option.

There's no magic to this, it's just a magnetic switch, no matter which option you choose.
