I have a Honda 4 stroke gx25 on my weed whacker. It idles and starts great but when running at high RPMs it will die. It does it cold or hot, and will restart immediately. Sometimes cold it will run for a few minutes. I took off the carb and cleaned it out, it looked great and I could see no visible problems. I also put in a new spark plug and fresh gas. What am I missing? I appreciate any suggestions.

When you re-start it, how long does it run before dying again? Does it shut off dead cold like it was switched off, or does it wind down like it is running out of gas?

It will restart immediately with 1 pull but cut off within a few seconds when under full RPM. It cuts out fast and cold unless I let off on the throttle then it will idle forever. Like its either starving for gas or flooding. There are no adjustment screws to play with.

What does the air filter look like? Need replacing? I'm thinking that it may not be getting enough air at high rpms.

Not sure, but is there a fuel filter? Pro's?

Air and fuel filters are OK. I even tried running without them and no change. NEXT?

Sounds to me like there may be a piece of trash pulling up into an orfice at full rpm, or a partially restricted strainer in the carb if the carb has a strainer screen.
